Children's Programs

Godly Play, which is offered for our children on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15 am, is a method of Christian education and spiritual direction for children from age 3 through grade 5. The goal of Godly Play is to teach children the art of using religious language—parable, sacred story, silence, and liturgy—to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God's presence in their lives.

Godly Play is unlike other church school programs, as it focuses on the method as well as the content of teaching. Based upon Montessori educational theory, children are given the opportunity to make community and take care of their own rooms, and are not given craft assignments but are allowed to choose their own work.

Our three age-appropriate classrooms, located on the second floor of the Parish House, are vibrant and beautiful spaces. Our Godly Play teachers, two of whom staff each classroom, are experienced in leading children and helping them explore their work.

In order to maintain the classrooms as safe spaces for the children, parents are invited to drop off their children at their classroom before class begins at 9:15 am and pick them up at the door of their classroom at 10:15 am.

For a more detailed list of stories and topics to be covered in each Godly Play classroom, please see the list of presentations and stories on the table in each classroom, or ask your child's teacher for more information.
