ach year, the Outreach Grants Committee meets to consider grant requests from parishioners and from a variety of local, national, and international organizations. St. Bartholomew's is committed to actively supporting and promoting initiatives that are a direct response to the Episcopal Church's Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that seek to cut in half the number of people living in extreme poverty worldwide. Therefore, the Outreach Grants Committee will place priority on requests that support Goals 1 and 2 (eradicate extreme poverty and hunger; and achieve universal primary education.)
In 2015, the Outreach Grants Committee gave $4,000 to the following organizations:
- Maryland State Boy Choir
- Episcopal Community Services of Maryland
- Goucher Prison Education Program
- Lillie May Carroll Jackson Charter School
- Joseph Ritchie House/Gilchrist Hospice
- Children's Peace Center (for All God's Children camp)
- Village Farmers' Market
- Episcopal Relief and Development
If you would like the Outreach Grants Committee to consider a grant request for a particular organization, please complete a Grant Request Form. Forms can be found on the St. Bartholomew's website under Ministries, Outreach, Outreach Grants. Completed forms can either be placed in the mailbox in the Undercroft marked for Carol Steele, Outreach Grants, or the requested information emailed to Carol Steele. (For privacy purposes Carol's email address is not posted here but may be obtained from the Parish Directory.) All requests must be submitted by the last Sunday in February.
Although we may not be able to accommodate each and every request received, please be assured that the Outreach Grants Committee is committed to ensuring that we remain good stewards of the funds within our care. We not only consider the cause for which grants are requested, but also seek to ensure the recipients handle their funds in a manner that meets the same standards we set for ourselves. New members are always welcome, so if you have any interest in joining the committee or have any questions, please let us know.
